Hi, I'm Alan Quin.
A native of Galway City, Alan has always had a passion for sport and fitness. At a young age he became involved in rugby and has played for his province Connacht at various levels. He also enjoys mountain biking, weight training and sea swimming.
In 2008 Alan qualified with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Sports and Exercise Science from University College Limerick (UL).
As part of this degree Alan completed a co-operative work placement with London Wasps Rugby Club as a Strength and Conditioning Coach
Alan’s work experience coincided with Wasps having a very successful year in 2007 in which they won the Heineken European Cup.
Alan is very proactive about his ongoing training and development and has enhanced his skills by qualifying with a National Certificate in Exercise and Fitness,(NCEF), ITEC Diploma in Gym Instruction, as well as Coaching Badges for both the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) .
Alan is also a Certified Conditioning Coach (CCC) from the IRFU and has just completed Resistance and Weight Training for Sport (RWTS) with Setanta College.
He is also an (IRB) International Rugby Board Certified Level 2 S&C coach, arising from his involvement with Ireland rugby (IRFU) at International level.
Following college Alan set up his own fitness coaching business, Alan Quin Fitness, where he would have the opportunity to make his skills available to a wider audience. As a result he has worked with a variety of people and groups from a variety of backgrounds and fitness levels.
In 2010 Alan was approached by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to work as the Fitness Coach for the Irish Women’s Rugby team up to and including the Women’s Rugby World Cup, in charge of all aspects of the team’s conditioning and nutrition.
Working with top athletes has enabled Alan to use his knowledge and experience in helping the general public in terms of functional programs for all individuals.
Currently Alan is the S&C Coach for the FAIs Emerging Talent Program.
